It is one of the famous Muruga temples in Tamil Nadu
The Vadapalani Andavar Temple located at Vadapalani in Chennai. This temple enshrines Lord Dhandayutapaani in a manner similar to the Palani Temple. It is one of the well-known Muruga temples in chennai and a major landmark of the City. This temple is of fairly recent origin and is very popular among the devotees of Lord Subramanya.
The main deity of this temple is Lord Muruga in a standing position. The entrance to this temple has majestic rajagopuram decorated with several stucco images representing legends from the Skanda puranam. Height of the eastern tower is 40.8 meters, which is adorned with 108 bharata natyam dance gestures.
The inner prakara has many sunnadis dedicated to Six-faced Muruga with Valli and Deivanai, Shiva, Parvathi, Vinayaga and Dhakshina murti etc.
More than 7000 marriages have taken place in the temple premises. People consider it auspicious for getting married here.
Skanda Sashti, Panguni Uttiram and Karttikai asterism festivals celebrated here attracts large crowds. This temple can be easily reached from all suburbs in Chennai.
